When I had just graduated from college my dad took a sabbatical to teach at Curtin University in Perth Australia. Our whole family (of 6) went in January for a semester. While I was there I spent time in the culture around campus, learned a little about the aboriginal people and studied their art. There was no internet in those days, so everything was done by foot.

Looking back , I certainly did not take full advantage of such an amazing opportunity, but Australia has a special place in my heart and my work. I have a small grouping of pieces that were born out of this experience. Gleaning from the most recognizable native techniques, I explored color, composition and the dreaming through a series of dots. Still very young in my artistic journey, it was an innocent time of study and expansion of my tool box. Even today you will still find a carry over of repetition of circles, dots, lines and boxes in my work. Love Australia
