Woman of Prayer Print

Woman of Prayer Print
Print only on basic old school color copy on paper back when the first color printers came out, before I knew anything about printing. LOL But still one of my favorite figures I did. π

When I first began using foil I had an aversion to the bold colors and highly reflective surfaces for which the pallet is known. I worked to mute the colors, add texture and create more natural, organic feelings with this new medium. I still loved some of the hints of reflection and the way the light would catch the colors, but overall my work was natural both in colors and themes.
This collection also embraces a journey that I had into figurative study. This particular print was originally a woodcut print. Over time I found that as well as I could draw figures and representational work, I did not enjoy it. My work began to feel stifled and contrived. After this phase I moved into free abstracted color expressions. I have since moved into fully embracing the wild and provocative color pallet with all itβs reflection and unique qualities, but these pieces have a special place in my heart.
